Three more “Ghostbusters” projects are – no surprise; gotta an I.P? it gonna need tappin’! – on the way!
Here they are, according to the brass that showed up to pony the slate for ‘Ghostbusters Day’ this week :
Ghostbusters Afterlife 2
Director Jason Reitman and co-writer Gil Kenan are returning to write a follow-up to the 2021 hit. While it’s expected the young cast of “Afterlife” will return, at this stage only OG castmember Ernie Hudson is believed to be involved – and in a big capacity. The codename for the project? ‘Firehouse’, confirming that the sequel will be set in New York City.
Ghostbusters : Animated Film
A “Ghostbusters” toon pic is in the works with Jennifer Kluska (“Hotel Transylvania: Transformania”) and Chris Prynoski attached along with writer Brenda Hsueh. No word on whether that one will be a big screen or small screen venture.
Ghostbusters Animated Series
Reitman and Kenan confirmed that a series based on the film franchise is headed to Netflix.
Only thing missing from that bunch? a sequel to Paul Feig’s 2006 reboot.
