Tom Cruise finds Mena co-star in a galaxy far, far away

Next-big-thing Domhnall Gleeson (“About Time”, “Star Wars : The Force Awakens”) is in talks to join Tom Cruise in “Mena”, says Variety.

Doug Liman (“Edge of Tomorrow”) reunites with Cruise on the project, which will tell of TWA pilot Barry Seal, who’s recruited by the CIA “provide reconnaissance on the burgeoning communist threat in Central America. Seal finds himself in charge of one of the biggest covert CIA operations in the history of the U.S., one that spawned the birth of the Medellin cartel and eventually almost brought down the Reagan White House through the Iran Contra scandal”.

The script for “Mena” was discovered on the Black List and consequently snapped up by Universal in 2014. Uni-regular Ron Howard was onboard to direct. Howard’s business partner Brian Grazer remains on the project as a producer.

In addition to Cruise, Sarah Wright is also a lock for the picture.
