We’re going to get a Woody at Sea!

According to Deadline, Sony Pictures snagged the actor to play Captain Richard Phillips for the film adaptation of the memoir “A Captain’s Duty: Somali Pirates, Navy SEALs and Dangerous Days at Sea”.

The title pretty much sums it up, but for those who want a little more detail…

The memoir recounts the Captain’s frightening experience when Somali Pirates hijacked his ship, the Alabama. Phillips surrendered to the pirates in order to keep his crew safe and was held captive for three days until the events that led to his rescue.

Scott Rudin, Michael De Luca, Dana Brunetti and Kevin Spacey are producing.

I always enjoy Hanks on screen, even though it’s been a while, so it’s nice to know we’ll have this flick to look forward to and a couple others as well. Hanks is currently working on  “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close” and has a live-action “Jungle Cruise” flick in the works.
