A reboot of the Troma classic “The Toxic Avenger” is in the works at Legendary Entertainment, Deadline reported today.
The original directors of the 1984 film, Lloyd Kaufman and Michael Herz of Troma Entertainment, will produce the new film.
As the trade reminds us, “The Toxic Avenger centers on Toxie, born when the mild-mannered Melvin from Tromaville, NJ, took a tumble into toxic waste. He’s transmogrified into a repulsive-yet-oddly-endearing mutant hero who stands up to bullies and corruption with radioactive zeal.”
The original film spawned several sequels, an animated series, comic and stage musical.
