Val Kilmer’s icing up for Top Gun 2

Top Gun (1986)

If there’s a “Top Gun 2” – and producer Jerry Bruckheimer seems adamant there will be – ‘Iceman’ will be in it. Somewhere. Maybe.

Val Kilmer, who played the cocky, completive fighter-pilot in the Tom Cruise hit, tells Larry King (via The Wrap) he’s excited for the film to come together. He also shared his memories of Tony Scott, fondly recalling the late, great filmmaker’s enthusiasm.

“I think it wouldn’t be that difficult to maintain the spirit of it. Tony was the most generous, positive director I’ve ever worked for in film. He’s not known as an actor’s director because he’s such a vivid stylist with the camera … but he really loved acting and getting the shot.”

Should that not come together (and considering Scott’s passed, it might not), Kilmer’s holding out hope Michael Mann decides to do a “Heat” sequel (as far as we know, he isn’t). The actor also has an idea for it.

“Here’s my pitch,” Kilmer said. “You remember Natalie Portman in it? She’s Pacino’s adopted daughter, so she comes home and says, ‘Daddy, daddy, I want you to meet my fiancé.’ And it’s me. He’s retired and I come to Chicago where he’s retired back to and I’m going to torture him, and then I’m going to kill him.”

Sold!… erm, yeah.
