Kelly Overton (“True Blood”) has been cast in the title role in Syfy’s upcoming series “Vanessa Helsing”, says The Live Feed.
The thirteen episode first season begins lensing next week; it’s expected to premiere in the Fall.
”In the new interpretation of the literary figure, the central character is now a woman, a descendent of the Van Helsing lineage of warriors who is resurrected and now must lead mankind against a world controlled by vampires in the post-Rising landscape.”
Also just signed is former “Mad Men” and “Beverly Hills 90210” actor Paul Johanson.
Jonathan Scarfe, Christopher Heyerdahl, David Cubitt and Tim Guinee also star in the series, to be executive produced by Neil LaBute.
