Another “Battlestar Galactica” fave has jumped aboard Ron Moore’s “17th Precinct“. Tricia Helfer, who played ‘Number Six’ on the hit sci-fi series, will play ”a necromancer, the magical equivalent of a coroner” on the NBC series. The show reunites Helfer will “Galactica” castmates Jamie Bamber and James Callis.

Adam Sandler and Andy Samberg will team up forI Hate You Dad“. The comedy, from “Sex Drive” writers Sean Anders and John Morris (and directed by Morris), fixes on a father who moves in with his son and immediately starts fighting with his boy’s fiancee.

Vince Vaughn will star in “Insane Laws“, a Universal comedy that “focuses on two best friends and how their lives are impacted when their grown children fall in love, with one man’s daughter becoming pregnant by his best friend’s son.” Jeremy Garelick wrote the script.

Pierce Brosnan will star in Susanne Bier’s “All You Need is Love“. The film, described ”as a tender story with a much lighter atmosphere than my previous works: Enough with conflicts”, will feature Brosnan as the head of a Danish (!) family.

“Star Trek” star Bruce Greenwood will star in the pilot of “The River“, a spooky Jaume Collet-Serra directed effort for ABC. The show “centers on Lincoln Cole (Joe Anderson) who, after his famous TV explorer father (Greenwood) goes missing way up the Amazon, reluctantly abandons his medical studies and follows in his father’s footsteps – accompanied by a small camera crew, and with something deadly in the water, waiting for him” Oren Peli (“Paranormal Activity”) created the show.

Australia’s Chris Egan (“Home & Away”) will star in “Poe“. The ABC series fixes on ”Edgar Allan Poe (Egan), the world’s very first detective, as he uses unconventional methods to investigate dark mysteries in 1840s Boston.” Egan previously starred on ABC’s “Kings”.

Anjelica Huston will star opposite Debra Messing in the drama pilot “Smash“. The NBC series follows a cross-section of characters who come together to put on a Marilyn Monroe musical on Broadway. Huston will play a shrewd, classy but cynical New York theater producer who is at home with the elite.
