Warner Bros announces new Harry Potter movies!

While Twihards wait with wobbly knees for Summit to announce they’ve managed out a way to continue the onscreen adventures of Bella and Edward (and you know they will), Warner Bros beats their market competitor to the punch by officially declaring a bunch of new “Harry Potter” movies are in the works.

In news that’s sure to harden many a wand today, the studio reports that “Harry Potter” author JK Rowling has agreed to make her screenplay debut on a ‘Potter’ prequel/spin-off called “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”. The film is based on a fictional textbook used by students at the Hogwarts wizard school.

The new film will be set 70 years before the “Harry Potter” movies – in other words, Daniel Radcliffe won’t be reprising his role as the bespectacled wizard (unless, of course, he serves as an Old Bibo-esque role, playing the narrator) – and open in New York, home of that legendary magic-man, The Naked Cowboy.

“Although it will be set in the worldwide community of witches and wizards where I was so happy for 17 years, ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’ is neither a prequel nor a sequel to the Harry Potter series, but an extension of the wizarding world,” Rowling said in the statement.

The hero of the new films will be a chap named Newt Scamander – sure to irk “Aliens” fans slightly – with Jeremy Renner surely already on the phone to his agent to get him an audition.

As for whether or not anyone from the “Harry Potter” series we know and love will pop up in the new film, it’s anyone’s guess, but a young Dumbledore – a friend of Newt’s – does feature in the ‘Fantastic Beasts’ book. Yes, Jeremy Renner would be perfect for that role, too.
