Whitest chick on the planet to play native American in Pan

Rather than wait around for Sony to greenlight her second go-around as Lisbeth Salander, “Girl with the Dragon Tatoo” star Rooney Mara has accepted an offer to play Tiger Lily – from the kids book, not the Hutchence family – in Joe Wright’s “Pan”.

The film, set during World War II and fixing on an orphan named Peter who is kidnapped by pirates and brought to Neverland, where he discovers he’s destined to save the land from the pirate Blackbeard, has already secured the services of hairy Hugh Jackman (as Blackbeard) and Garrett ‘TRON Legacy’ Hedlund as Hook.

With Tiger Lily now cast, the search continues for Peter – with every tyke aged 10-12 believed to be putting their hand up for the gig.

Interestingly enough, Warner Bros were looking at Lupita Nyonog’o and “Blue is the Warmest Color” star Adele Exarchopoulos for the role of Tiger Lily before offering the part to the very un-Tiger Lily-like Mara.

“Pan”, due for release July 17, 2015, is hoped to be the first in a series of “Pan” flicks for the studio – who are apparently hot for a franchise to fill the void of the concluded and highly-missed “Harry Potter” saga.

Mara’s other credits include “Ain’t Them Bodies Saints”, “Her” and “A Nightmare on Elm Street” ; this will be her first-time working with the Lost Boys.
