Will The Hulk 2 be Bana-less?

I’ve heard a couple of rumours recently suggesting that Universal might be looking for a new lad to fill the ripped pants, so this byte from Eric Bana over at Zap2it – when asked about “The Hulk 2” – is quite intriguing.

According to ‘Uncle Chop Chop’, he hasn’t even been asked to return for “The Hulk” sequel that’s apparently all set to go at Uni. Bana is indeed under contract to play Bruce Banner for a second time, but after the drab letdown of the first ‘Hulk’, rumour has it that they might be starting the comic turned film series ‘afresh’. “Bana, who says that he doesn’t have definite plans on what he’s doing next, although a few projects are in the works, also pleads ignorant to plans for a sequel to Ang Lee’s "The Hulk," which made Universal approximately $242 million in world-wide box office receipts (not including DVD/VHS sales). In early April, producers Gale Anne Hurd and Avi Arad said they were working on a sequel to the film”, reports the site. “However, the project may be on the backburner given that Bana says they haven’t talked to him to repirse the role, even though he is under contract to play Bruce Banner again if Universal does move forward with the project.”

At the same time, Bana says he hasn’t been approached to play 007 either – as previously rumoured. "Someone told me that yesterday," he laughs. "That’s not something I’ve ever really contemplated — no, I wouldn’t be a Bond, no."

Personally, I don’t see the “Hulk” sequel happening. A “Hulk Dogs” spin-off? Yeah – maybe that. Ho Ho Ho.
