Will The Lizard Slither into Spider-Man 4?

Dylan Baker on when Connors’ transformation will begin

According to IGN Movies, the next challenger to step into the ring with Peter Parker, for Sony’s “Spider-Man 4”, might be…. The Lizard.

Yeah, no surprise there.

Dylan Baker, who plays Dr.Curt Connors in the film series, has been waiting for his chance to unweb Spidey since the second movie. Its been the plan all along to one day give Baker his chance to transform into his super-villain alter-ego…. But the question’s always been ‘When?’

“…we’re hoping it’s not too far down the line!”, Baker tells the site. “I’ll be trying to get on the Lizard costume when I’m 80. I just spent time with Alfred Molina [who played Doctor Octopus in “Spider-Man 2”], and we were both joking about that. But it’s like these great characters, that are there in the comic books. And it’s like, just open that door up… I’m ready to go!”

Baker says director Sam Raimi has discussed with him the possibility of The Lizard being a villain down the line (which suggests Raimi may go on to direct the next “Spider-Man” after all) a few times. “And, of course, the whole thing is in his head. So as long as his brilliant ideas keep coming, I’ll go with him. We’re getting a little more specific now, but it’s still pretty broad.”

Meantime, Baker says Connors appears in this year’s “Spider-Man 3”.

“Well, I would say I’m still the guy that Peter Parker has to come to when he has questions — scientific questions. And I try to help him out. And there’s definitely a lot going on in this film, so he needs a lot of info. So we’ll see. My wife is also in it; Becky Ann Baker plays the wife of James Cromwell, who’s the police captain. And she plays the mother of Bryce Dallas Howard [Gwen Stacy], who is also in the film.”

I’d say the chances are pretty good that Baker will indeed be one – I’d say they’ll get a bigger star to play a second villain alongside him – of the villains in the impending “Spider-Man 4”.
