Zellweger to make directorial debut with 4 1/2 Minutes

Renee Zellweger, cherished by a select few as the cute single “mom” Dorothy Boyd in “Jerry Maguire” (and detested by a large majority for everything after), will make her directorial debut on “4 1/2 Minutes”, says The Hollywood Reporter.

The comedy, announced at Toronto, will star Zellweger and Johnny Knoxville.

Set in New York’s stand-up comedy world, “4 1/2 Minutes” sees “Jackass” alum Knoxville play “Jimmy Bennett, a commitment-phobic, train-wreck comedian whose life is falling apart when he takes a job looking after the genius son of single mom P.J. Andersen (Zellweger).”

Anthony Tambakis (”Warrior”) wrote the film, which is based on the life and comedy of real-life stand-up Dov Davidoff.

Production on the film begins in New York in February.
