Dan Stevens, Aubrey Plaza & Jean Smart join X-Men spinoff

Dan Stevens, Aubrey Plaza and Jean Smart will join Rachel Keller a new FX pilot, a spin-off of the popular “X-Men” franchise.

Titled “Legion”, the pilot centres on Stevens’ character David Haller (in the comics, David is the son of X-Men founder Charles Xavier aka Professor X), a man diagnosed as schizophrenic who has been in and out of psychiatric hospitals for years. But after a strange encounter with another patient, he is is forced to consider that the voices he hears and the visions he sees might be real.

Plaza will play David’s friend Lenny, who believes that any day now her life is going to turn around following years of drug and alcohol abuse.

Smart will play Melanie, a nurturing, demanding therapist with a sharp mind and unconventional methods.

Production will kick off in March.
