Who’s doing what with whom and when

I’ve got a stuffed one in the oven cooking away, so here’s my best attempt at squeezing a bunch of bits into the one page….

From the Trades (Variety, The Hollywood Reporter)

· Colin Farrell – replacing Heath Ledger – will join Rachel Weisz in the Phil Noyce directed “Dirt Music”.
· Martin Henderson (“Torque”) will play ‘Mr Smith’ in the TV spin-off of “Mr & Mrs Smith”. Bridgette Wilson-Sampras (“The Wedding Planner”) has also snagged a role.
· Gurinder Chada will direct “Angus, Thongs and Full-Frontal Snogging”, which centers on a 16-year-old girl who keeps a diary about the ups and downs of being a teenager, including the things she learns about kissing.
· It’s confirmed. Tom Cruise and Ben Stiller will indeed be teaming for the comedy, “The Hardy Men”. Shawn Levy will direct.
· Matthew Lillard and Efren Ramirez are set to star in Flipzide Studios’ “American Summer,” a comedy about a pool boy and gardener who take over a Beverly Hills mansion and become neighborhood pimps.
· Nicolas Cage is set to star in a live-action version of Disney’s “The Sorcerers Apprentice”.
· Warner Bros. has made a preemptive deal to tell the story of Enron’s collapse, with Leonardo DiCaprio starring and producing through his Appian Way shingle. The studio is finalizing a rights deal on “Conspiracy of Fools,” a book by New York Times reporter Kurt Eichenwald. Sheldon Turner (“The Longest Yard”) has been set to write the script.
· Jennifer Garner is circling “Devil in the Junior League”, which will revolve around a stuffy Southern socialite whose husband disappears with another woman — and her fortune. She turns to a lawyer who says he’ll help in exchange for helping his flashy, less-than-appropriate wife get into the Junior League.
· Ian McShane is starring in “The Dark Is Rising”, based on the five-part book series, about a youth, Will Stanton (Ludwig), who discovers at age 11 that he’s the last of a group of immortals — the Old Ones — dedicated to fighting a growing presence of dark forces. He comes to the realization he’s charged with saving the world.
· William Hurt and Maria Bello will topline Arthur Cohn’s remake of Japanese film “Yellow Handkerchief,” about a convict recently released from prison for an accidental murder who’s considering returning to his ex-wife and his old life.

From Elsewhere around the Web

IGN Movies contacted Adrien Brody’s people for a response on those “Hulk” rumours and though they didn’t confirm the news… they also didn’t deny the rumours… Simply saying it’s too early to confirm.
·FortWayne.com talked to Marvel Studio’s Kevin Feige who said that they’re still considering doing a “Silver Surfer” solo film down the track.
· Virginia Madsen tells Skiewed & Reviewed that there’s no truth to the rumours that she has been approached to play the love interest in the new “Indiana Jones” movie. “Harrison did an interview shortly after “Firewall”, and he mentioned that he thought I would be good in the film. That was all that I heard about it, which was very nice of him to say, but nothing has come of it. Besides, I thought Karen Allen was his girlfriend in the [new] film?”
· There’s a chance we might see a “Mission : Impossible 4” one day. Sky News has more.
· Dennis Hopper is in talks to star in a film version of the Stephen King story, “Dolan’s Cadillac” – at one stage set-up as a vehicle for Sylvester Stallone – says Production Weekly.
· Matt Damon tells Telegraph Magazine that he’ll be doing a cameo in Francis Ford Coppola’s next film, “Youth Without Youth”.
· Megan Mullally (“Will & Grace”) is currently filming a guest role on TVs “Boston Legal”.
· This time last year, James Van Der Beek was sitting on a Malibu Pier with yours truly drinking beers (which, by the way, nearly got us in trouble with the cops – ya see, you’re not allowed to drink on the pier), now he’s gone one better… and scored a job. He’ll star in the horror film “Stone’s War”, says Production Weekly.
· Richmond Arquette (“The Tripper”) will play Deputy Charles in the remake of “Halloween”, according to Bloody Disgusting.
· Batman-On-Film.com reports that Warner Bros are working on a new cut of “Batman Forever”, due to the success of the “Superman II : Richard Donner Cut”.
Dread Central says Brooke Shields and Vinnie Jones have joined the cast of “Midnight Meat Train”.
