Disney developing live-action Little Mermaid?

It looks like the next animated fairytale to get the live-action treatment at Disney could be “The Little Mermaid”…

According to Deadline, execs at the studio are in the early sages of reviving the Hans Christian Anderson’s story as a live-action feature, currently evaluating whether to proceed with the idea.

Bearing in mind the success of Disney’s recently released “Jungle Book” feature and the new teaser trailer for its upcoming “Beauty and the Beast” adaptation which quickly became the most-watched teaser in history (it was viewed almost 92 million times in its first 24 hours alone, beating “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” for the record), it wouldn’t come as a surprise if the concept moved ahead, but stay tuned for confirmation.

Working Title and Universal already have their own “Little Mermaid” project set up with Chloe Grace Moretz attached to star.
