Craven rebuilding House

Remake of his 70s horror classic in the works

Dennis Iliadis (2004s “Hardcore”) will direct a remake of Wes Craven’s classic “The Last House on the Left”, according to Variety. Adam Alleca is currently working on the script, a film about killers who inadvertently seek refuge with the parents of one of their victims.

“The first one was arch — especially in relation to the killers,” Craven, who will produce (with Sean S.Cunningham) the remake, said.

He said they chose Iliadis because they found his pic Hardcore “so compelling and real.”

Craven said part of the reason he’s revisiting earlier films is that those are ones over which he had more ownership control, and partly it’s because he figured, “Why not?”

The remake of “Last House” will get underway next year.
