Robert Downey Jr, Richard Linklater reunite for Man of the People movie

Robert Downey Jr will reunite with his “A Scanner Darkly” director, the fabbo Richard Linklater, for a movie about a bogus medicine man.

The movie, which Downey’s Team Downey banner produces with Annapurna’s Megan Ellison, will tell of con-man Dr. John Brinkley, a faux quack who scammed his way to fame and fortune using fake medicine, populism and radio, and Dr. Morris Fishbein, the editor of the journal of the America Medical Association who goes on a decade-long quest to take Brinkley down.

The untitled feature is based on the episode “Man of the People” from Gimlet Media’s Reply All podcast.

Downey, next seen in “Spider-Man : Homecoming”, reprising Tony Stark, previously colloborated with “Everybody Wants Some” helmer Linklater on the animated project “A Scanner Darkly” in 2006.
