The upcoming HBO movie “My Dinner With Hervé” is well underway, with the first image from the original flick appearing. It shows Peter Dinklage playing Hervé Villechaize, once the most famous dwarf in the world, and Jamie Dornan as Danny Tate, with whom Villechaize forms an unlikely friendship.
As previously reported on Moviehole, Villechaize was a French actor in the 70s and 80s, and Tate a struggling journo, and their friendship lasted until Villechaize’s suicide in 1993. Reports suggest the movie will take place in this year, leading up to his death.
Of course the only similarity between Villechaize and Dinklage is their height, as Dinklage doesn’t really look anything like the actor.
The film is still in production, so no release date as yet. It’s been written and directed by Sasha Gervasi with Gervasi and Dinklage to executive produce.
