John Travolta to play Fred Durst’s stalker in new film Moose

In a story I most definitely did not make up, John Travolta is starring in “Moose”, based on the life of Limp Bizkit rocker Fred Durst. Production has now begun, and it looks to be an interesting film. Check out the full press release below.

Principal photography is now underway in Alabama on the thriller “Moose’ starring two-time Oscar® nominee John Travolta with Limp Bizkit front man, Fred Durst directing for Andrea Iervolino and Monika Bacardi’s AMBI Media Group.

Based on events from Fred Durst’s own life, “Moose” was written by Durst with Dave Bekerman.

John Travolta is playing the title character Moose – a rabid movie fan obsessed with his favorite celebrity action hero, Hunter Dunbar, played by Devon Sawa (“Final Destination,” “Nikita”). As Moose’s obsession grows stronger, his fixation turns from stalking to ambition of destroying the star’s life. The story was inspired by a real life fan who stalked Durst many years ago.

Producers are Andrea Iervolino and Monika Bacardi (AMBI Media Group) and Oscar Generale and Daniel Grodnik (Wonderfilm Media).

AMBI Pictures and Media Finance Capital (MFC) are fully financing the film and Executive Producers on behalf of Media Finance Capital are David Gilbery (McQueen, The Survivalist, Bone Tomahawk), and Charles Dorfman (The King’s Speech, Shame).

Richard Salvatore, Kirk Shaw, Bret Saxon and Jeff Bowler also serve as Executive Producers. Co-Executive Producers are Linda Favila and Anson Downes.

Wonderfilm Media is a collaboration of four seasoned film executives that will be traded shortly on the Toronto Stock Exchange and is a Finance, production and distribution entity.

AMBI Distribution, the worldwide sales arm of AMBI Media Group, will handle worldwide sales for the film.

“Moose” marks the second collaboration between AMBI and John Travolta in the last year. Travolta starred with music superstar Shania Twain in AMBI’s father/son stock car racing film “Trading Paint,” which is currently in post-production.

Durst previously directed the feature films “The Education of Charlie Banks” and “The Longshots”.

Said Andrea Iervolino, “There certainly is no shortage of amazing Fred Durst stories to tell, but this one in particular is unequivocally cinematic in how it plays out. John’s range as an actor will once again be shown off as he steps into a character that Fred is all too familiar with – making this pairing so exciting. We have great producing partners in Dan and Oscar, and great story for John and Fred to bring to life. We couldn’t be happier.”
