Dune adaptation could be two or more films, says director

Denis Villeneuve is on board to remake the 1984 film “Dune”, originally a David Lynch classic. Off the back of his 3-hour take of “Blade Runner: 2049”, it’s no wonder that Villeneuve would want the most time possible to make an incredible film.

The director appeared at Rendez-Vous du Cinema Quebecois in Quebec this week and opened up about the upcoming adaptation of “Dune” –

Dune will probably take two years to make,” the director said. “The goal is to make two films, maybe more.

The film is based on Frank Herbert’s book, which is also very lengthy, so fans will be happy to see him take his time on a decent flick. Lynch’s film, though widely regarded amongst Lynch fans, was not necessarily considered a success.
