Chicken Run 2 officially in the works

About clucking time! If you don ‘t remember “Chicken Run”, you’d be forgiven. It’s been nearly 20 years since the stop-motion-animation flick was released, but to this day remains most successful stop-motion-animated feature of all time.

So really, a sequel had to be done, and it’s finally been confirmed that Aardman Animations are working on “Chicken Run 2”, The Hollywood Reporter confirms.

“Chicken Run”, released in 2000, told the story of a group of plucky chickens attempting to escape certain death at the hands of their evil farm owner. It had a voice cast including the likes of Mel Gibson and Timothy Spall, and the film was also critically acclaimed, with a 97 percent Rotten Tomatoes rating alongside BAFTA and Golden Globe nominations.

The studio is likely to get moving on the project following the release of “Shaun the Sheep” sequel “Farmaggedon” (side note – best title of a film ever) next year.
