In addition to the “Bad Boys” spin-off, “L.A’s Finest”, the major nets passed on quite a few other shows many were certain were certainties for pick-ups.
“The Greatest American Hero” (ABC)
The Hannah Simone-starring reboot of the ’80s classic felt “off-brand” for the Disney-owned network, according to THR. “We just found out that network TV isn’t ready for the first brown female superhero on TV,” Simone tweeted. “This would have been history making and so empowering for young girls around the world.”
“Wayward Sisters” (The CW)
While a “Supernatural” spin-off cut muster, a series fixing on a couple of characters from “Supernatural” didn’t. This one aired as a backdoor pilot on an episode of “Supernatural” last season.
It breaks my heart to say this, but CW has chosen to pass on Wayward Sisters. We love these characters, and have spent almost two years trying to make this show a reality on the network… but there are some fights, sometimes, you can’t win.

“No Apologies” (Fox)
A drama series starring big-time TV and film star Katie Holmes? “Nah thanks”, said Fox. If Holmes agrees, the producers are considering retooling the pilot for mid-season consideration. In the show, Holmes would play an FBI agent whose affair shatters her life and threatens her career.
“Cagney & Lacey” (CBS)
One most expected would be an early pick up, ultimately didn’t end up getting the nod because the pilot came in “soft”. The reboot of the ’80s cop drama would have starred Sarah Drew and Michelle Hurd.
“Man of the House” (NBC)
A new comedy, starring Alyson Hannigan and Leslie Bibb, about two recently divorced sisters who decide to move in together to raise their kids under one roof won’t be going ahead. Considering Hannigan’s involvement, you’d think it might’ve been in with a shot.
“Gone Baby Gone” (FOX)
A small-screen adaptation of Denis Lehane’s novel, with Joseph Morgen playing the role Ben Affleck did in the film version. Phil Noyce directed the pilot. Very surprising…
