Oscar winner J.K. Simmons has joined Hulu’s “Veronica Mars” revival, The Wrap reported today.
According to the site, the “Whiplash” star plays ex-con Clyde Prickett, a racketeer who works for Richard Casablancas (David Starzyk) in the eight-episode limited series.
Prickett, says the site, is an ex-con “who served 10 years for racketeering, and was smart enough to be the first guy in Chino to offer protection to Neptune’s richest real estate developer, Big Dick Casablancas (father to [Ryan] Hansen’s young Dick Casablancas), on Big Dick’s first day in prison. Now a free man, Clyde works as Big Dick’s fixer. He’s the smarter and more dangerous of the pair and has a network of fellow ex-cons he can count on to keep his own hands clean.”
Simmons joins original gang Kristen Bell (Veronica), Ryan Hansen (Dick), Jason Dohring (Logan), Francis Capra (Weevil), Percy Daggs III (Wallace), Max Greenfield (Leo D’Amato) and Enrico Colantoni (Keith Mars) in Rob Thomas’s revival run.
Meanwhile, a pic from the first table read of episode one has been doing the rounds online.
Featured in the photo are Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars), Jason Dohring (Logan Echolls), Percy Daggs III (Wallace Fennel), Daran Norris (Cliff McCormack), Enrico Colantoni (Keith Mars), and David Starzyk (Richard Casablancas) with newcomers Dawnn Lewis as Neptune’s new police chief Marcia Langdon, Kirby Howell-Baptiste as nightclub operator Nicole, Clifton Collins Jr. as cartel hitman Alonzo Lozano, Patton Oswalt as Penn Epner the “best pizza delivery guy in Neptune,” and Izabela Vidovic as Matty Ross.
