Plug pulled on World War Z sequel

The “World War Z” sequel has been put out of its misery.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paramount has opted to cancel the long-gestating follow-up to the 2013 hit starring Brad Pitt due to budget issues. The film, which David Fincher was set to direct, was due to begin lensing in the spring or early summer. The studio and producers at Pitt’s Plan B shingle began making calls to the crew on Wednesday morning.

Despite its ultimate victory at the box office, the first film – an adaptation of the Max Brooks novel – also suffered quite considerably, mostly in the re-shoots and ‘too many cooks’ department.
