“Captain Marvel” was set in the Blockbuster video-era, and so too will be “Wonder Woman 1984”, now a new report at Discussing Film suggests Matt Reeves’ upcoming Batman standalone will also be set in the 1990s.
The film, previously known as “The Batman”, will feature a younger incarnation of the caped crusader flapping about in the ’90s. That gives the character a chance to be active (and older) in the modern-day, too.
The script, which is currently being finished, has been described as a neo-noir detective story with Bruce Wayne utilizing those Sherlock Holmes-types skills of his. The film will reportedly feature multiple villains, including The Penguin.
The untitled film is scheduled for release on June 25th 2021.
