Marwan Kenzari, the actor who plays the villain Jafar in Disney’s “Aladdin”, will star opposite Charlize Theron and Kiki Layne in Skydance and Netflix’s “The Old Guard”. The movie, based on the comic from author Greg Rucka and artist Leandro Fernandez, tells of a small group of soldiers, led by a woman named Andy (Theron), who are inexplicably immortal and have been working as mercenaries through the ages. The novelty of not dying long gone, the group gets a jolt in their bones when they discover the existence of a new immortal, a black woman serving in the Marines, at the same time as a nefarious organization captures their undying actions on camera. Darby Camp (“Big Little Lies”) and comedian Jack Whitehall will star in director Walter Becker and Paramount’s adaptation of the classic kids-book series “Clifford, the Big Red Dog”. The books, by Norman Bridwell, follow the misadventures of a giant red dog and his owner, a girl named Emily Elizabeth. The movie will see Emily (Camp), who is struggling to fit in at home and at school, discover a small red puppy who is destined to become her best friend. When Clifford magically undergoes one heck of a growth spurt, becomes a gigantic dog and attracts the attention of a genetics company, Emily and her Uncle Casey (Whitehall) have to fight the forces of greed as they go on the run across New York City. Along the way, Clifford affects the lives of everyone around him and teaches Emily and her uncle the true meaning of acceptance and unconditional love. [More…]

“Aquaman” actor Michael Beach will play the recurring role of on DC Universe’s “Swap Thing”.  The upcoming series follows Abby Arcane (Crystal Reed) as she investigates what appears to be a deadly swamp-born virus in the small Louisiana town of Marais. Beach will guest star as Nathan Ellery, a no-nonsense businessman with a ruthless streak. Ellery presents as the polished CEO of a legitimate venture capital firm, but his smooth corporate veneer hides his willingness to resort to extreme measures to achieve his goals. [More…]

“Arrow” star Emily Bett Rickards is joining James Maslow (“Lethal Weapon”) for indie comedy/drama “We Need To Talk”. The Todd Wolfe written/directed film, lensing at the end of May, follows a self-centered, video-gaming celebrity, Great Scott Gamer (Maslow) who speaks with millions of fans every day but doesn’t know how to talk to the people he loves. It isn’t a problem until his girlfriend says, “We need to talk”, before disappearing to work. Scott frantically spends the rest of the day on a wild goose chase trying to figure out what she wants to talk about and following awful advice from friends, fans and social media trolls. Ella Purnell (”Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children”, ”Sweetbitter”), Ana De La Reguera (”Everything, Everything,” ”Goliath”), Theo Rossi (”Luke Cage”, ”Sons of Anarchy”) and Huma Qureshi (”Kaala”, ”Viceroy’s House”) join the previously announced Dave Bautista in Zack Snyder’s new zombie thriller “Army of the Dead”. Following a zombie outbreak in Las Vegas, a group of mercenaries take the ultimate gamble, venturing into the quarantine zone to pull off the greatest heist ever attempted. “Army of the Dead” marks Snyder’s return to the zombie genre, previously making his directorial debut with ”Dawn of the Dead” for Universal Pictures.Principal photography is set to begin in July.
