According to Bloody Disgusting, Álvarez will produce the next film in the unremitting “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” series for Legendary Entertainment/Pictures.

The ninth “Chainsaw” film, says the site, will be a direct sequel to Tobe Hooper’s 1974 classic. Yep, they’re taking a page out of the “Halloween” and “Terminator” playbook.

A director is being sought for the project.

Alvarez’s last film was the dynamite thriller “Don’t Breathe” which pocketed a pleasing $157 million at the box office.
