Prequel to Training Day in development at Warner Bros.

2001 crime drama “Training Day” is reportedly getting a prequel made at Warner Bros, reports Collider. The flick starred Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke, and word is that Warner Bros have enlisted Nick Yarborough to pen a script.

The film will be set in later April 1992, two days before the Rodney King verdict was delivered – the verdict that led to the LA riots. The prequel will follow a younger version of Alonzo Harris (originally played by Washington).

Antoine Fuqua directed “Training Day”, with David Ayer writing the script.

No word on director yet, but the project is still in early stages.
