Expendables loses 50!

Seems they’re still playing musical chairs over there on “The Expendables”.
Sylvester Stallone (thanks for checking in with us yesterday by the way, Sly! Appreciate you reading!) recently announced he’d recast Forest Whitaker’s part in the movie, that of villain Hale Caesar, with rapper Curtis ’50 Cent’ Jackson.

Whether it’s because of the hostile response concerning Jackson’s appointment to the film (visit any site offering talkback, look for the article about 50 joining the film, and you’ll see a bunch of unfavourable posts about Sly’s casting decision under the main story) or, as was the case with Whitaker, the ever-changing schedule of the film, he’s now out too.

So who’s in now? Laurence Fishburne? Samuel L.Jackson? Ving Rhames (He might’ve been good actually)? Bill Duke? Carl Weathers? (I laugh)…

Nope. Terry Crews, according to Aint it Cool News.

Who? You know, the big guy that had it going on for Vanessa Carlton’s ‘1000 miles’ in the Wayans’ Bros’ “White Chicks”? or Chris Rock’s dad Julius on “Everybody hates Chris”?

The former footballer has been making waves in the action field in recent times (in fact, his acting debut was opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger in “The Sixth Day”) and that’s apparently good enough for Stallone. Crews played Terrence Washington, the stern cop Keanu’s character is suspected of killing, in last year’s “Street Kings”, has an unspecified role in the new “Terminator” flick, and just filmed a part in “Game”, the new Neveldine/Taylor flick starring Gerard Butler.

In my opinion, Crews is a much better fit than Jackson ever was. I don’t dislike Jackson as an actor (he’s pretty darn good in “Get Rich or Die Tryin’”) but having read the character breakdown – and see the sides – of ‘Caesar’, believe Crew might personify the character more efficiently. He’s a big fuckin’ bloke too – he looks like he could hold his own against Stallone and Jason Statham (as opposed to Jackson who, despite the muscles, looks pretty squat on screen).
