Solo writer on why a sequel or series likely won’t happen

The rumor mill recently let rip with a rumor that some kind of “Solo” spin-off or sequel could be on the cards for Disney’s streaming platform, Disney+. The rumor was quickly debunked, and now Jake Kasdan, who wrote the film with his father, “Empire Strikes Back” screenwriter Lawrence Kasdan, has taken to Twitter to explain why it’s not something that’ll likely ever happen.

“Don’t think anyone’s pursuing a Solo sequel at the moment,” the younger Kasdan said. “[I] think a feature, at this point, would be a tough sell & the [Disney Plus] Star Wars slate is really…pretty packed, all shows I’m looking forward to.”

Though quite liked by critics and “Star Wars” fans alike, “Solo : A Star Wars Story” didn’t exactly light the box-office on fire so all plans for sequels (one, set up by the first film, would’ve seen the return of iconic villain Darth Maul) were seemingly scrapped by the higher brass quickly after the theatrical release.
