Sopranos movie no longer releasing this year

“Sopranos” movie prequel “The Many Saints of Newark” has had it’s release date pushed back by distrib Warner Bros.

The Alan Tayor-directed film, starring Alessandro Nivola, Vera Farmiga, Ray Liotta, Jon Bernthal, Corey Stoll, Billy Magnussen, and John Magaro, originally due to open Sept. 25 will now open March 12, 2021.

The pic is set during the Newark riots of July 1967 and largely fixes on the bloody bout between African-Americans and Italian-Americans in Jersey at the time.

Michael Gandolfini, son of the late James Gandolfini, takes over for his father as a young Tony Soprano.
