Now this is a surprise… you sneaky devil, Mr. Lynch.
In a column at Variety discussing this year’s possible Cannes premieres, the trade mentions that they’ve heard from “two well-informed sources” that a new David Lynch feature film “which has been completely off the radar and stars Laura Dern — either as a cameo or a supporting role — along with some other Lynch regulars” is set for the Croissette.
It was rumoured not long ago that Lynch and “Twin Peaks : The Return” star Dern were reuniting for the series “Wisteria” – which may or may not be a proposed continuation of “Twin Peaks” – but that the project has been pushed back due to the pandemic. Others said to be involved in the series, which was reportedly in the works with Netflix, included Kyle MacLachlan, Amanda Seyfried, Michael Horse and Susan Sarandon.
Targeted to cost in the realm of $85m, the 13-episode original series was to be produced by frequent Lynch collaborator Sabrina S.Sutherland.
Scuttlebutt on the net today suggests the project premiering at Cannes could indeed be the pilot for this new show.
There is going to be a movie at Cannes from one of the best American directors in history! He made two of my all time favourite movies (and we can argue all night over others) and fave TV series. This movie has been kept well under wraps… some even doubt it exists!

1). Variety is legit. Seems like this is really happening, folks…
2). In addition to Dern, the "other Lynch regulars," based on previous hints, seem most likely to include Kyle M, Amanda Seyfried, Sherilyn Fenn, Kimmy Robertson, Michael Horse, possibly Lara Flynn Boyle (!)…— ——— (@fatecolossal) April 11, 2022
Oh hey, one other thing. Right in the prime period when all this wisteria-adjacent posting was happening last Spring, Sabrina Sutherland posted 2 photos of Mark Frost within a week. Obviously, this may not mean anything. But some of her other posts are, in retrospect, suggestive pic.twitter.com/hO6ZUg8eYd

And then there's the granddaddy of suggestive Sabrina S posts, made when (it now seems) Lynch was likely working in (post?)production on this project, October 1st:https://t.co/USb7A2gDrM pic.twitter.com/OQRRUfDqxg

based on the cryptic posts from several lynch regulars while Unrecorded Night/Wisteria was in production, seeming more and more likely he's repurposed whatever was shot for that series into a feature https://t.co/lf37HsHW18 pic.twitter.com/p4PfuZ096C
