“Pursuit of Happyness” director Gabriele Muccino is being eyed to direct “Adaline“,  which director Andy Tennant and actress Katherine Heigl were recently attached to. [Variety]

Speaking of Mr Muccino, he has added Jessica Biel and Uma Thurman to the cast of his upcoming soccer comedy “Playing the Field“. Gerard Butler is already onboard. [Variety]

Steve Carell is set to star in Mandate’s “Dogs of Babel“, a tragic yet beautiful story of love and loss. The story follows Paul Iverson, a linguistics professor, who returns home one day to find his wife dead in their backyard. Police rule her death an accident, but Paul is not quite sure. The only witness to her death is their dog Lorelei. In Paul’s grief-stricken search for answers, he endeavors to teach Lorelei to talk in the hopes that he can uncover what happened the day his wife died.

A week or so ago reports surfaced that “Step Up” director John Chu may be in the running to direct “G.I Joe 2“. The filmmaker responded to the report today suggesting that while he may be in the mix he’s yet to get the job.  “I don’t know what goes on inside the doors of Paramount, but I’m up for a bunch of different projects.” Adds Chu, “‘Joe’ is something I’ve loved since I was a kid…I still think there’s a movie out there that can be done for the real ‘Joe’ fans, the one we’ve been waiting for that hasn’t been done before.” [MTV]

Malin Akerman and Kate Mara play it coy when asked whether or not they’ve been approached  – as rumoured – to be a part of “Superman” and “The Dark Knight Rises”, respectively. [MTV]


Minnie Driver is set to star in a private eye pilot for CBS called “Hail Mary“. [Deadline]

Paramount has announced that a ‘Director’s Cut’ of “Justin Bieber : Never Say Never” will unspool in theaters for a week. Director John Chu says, ““I realized I had an embarrassment of riches when I was I in the cutting room,” said Chu. “This cut allows me to retain some of the best scenes from the original movie, while incorporating previously unseen footage and new material I shot during our extensive promotional tour on behalf of the movie. Justin’s dedication to his fan base is unwavering and I was inspired as a filmmaker to attempt to provide them a unique experience that showed even more of his world.”

Ingrid Bolsø Berdal will play one of the witches in “Hansel & Gretel” [Bloody Disgusting]

“Arrested Development” creator Mitch Hurwitz is set to direct a remake of Lars von Trier’s Norwegian comedy ”Direktoren For Det Hele” aka “The Boss of it All“. [The Wrap]

In addition to “Uncharted”, David O.Russell says he’s considering Mark Wahlberg for the film adaptation of the doco “Cocaine Cowboys“. [The Playlist]

She mightn’t have featured in the recently released poster for the film, but room’s been made for “Arthur” actress Greta Gerwig on the new banner.

Kevin Hart is set to star opposite Rob Corddry in Rob Thomas’ single-camera comedy pilot for Fox ”Little in Common” [Deadline]

“Clash of the Titans” director Louis Letterier will direct the disaster film “G“, the story of “a father who has to search for his lost child as the world stops spinning and Earth begins to lose its gravity.” [Heat Vision]

“Party Down” and “Veronica Mars” alum Ryan Hansen will star in the NBC comedy pilot “Lovelives“, described as a sophisticated, adult multi-camera comedy about a couple, Tim (Hansen) and Holly, and their challenges of love and infidelity. [Deadline]

Christina Ricci will star in the new series  “Pan Am“, about those that staffed the ’60s airline [The Hollywood Reporter]

Disney has released a third trailer for “Mars needs Moms“, Warner Bros has a new “Sucker Punch” trailer, and Paramount have provided Moviehole with a new clip from “Rango“, which you can view below :
