Oh I love this…. Diane Lane, one of my favourite actresses of all time (I’ve pristine VHS copies of everything she’s done in my collection – yep, even “Lady Beware” and “Knight Moves”), is headed to Smallville.
Warner Bros has announced that the super-talented and super-gorgeous actress (and former wife of a ‘Highlander’; she’s now married to Josh Brolin of course), who of late has been starring in meaty fare like “Secreteriat” and “Hollywoodland”, will play Superman’s adopted mother in the 2012 reboot.
Director Zack Snyder says, “This was a very important piece of casting for me because Martha Kent is the woman whose values helped shape the man we know as Superman. We are thrilled to have Diane in the role because she can convey the wisdom and the wonder of a woman whose son has powers beyond her imagination.”
With Kevin Costner widely rumoured to be playing Jonathan Kent, Clark looks to be in good hands.
