Charlize Theron says Mad Max Fury Road is a ‘re-imaginaing’ of the Mad Max world

Charlize Theron is still very much attached to George Miller’s on-again off-again on-again “Mad Max : Fury Road”, the actress tells Total Film.

In an interview in this month’s issue of the magazine, the “Young Adult” star confirmed that she’ll indeed still be starring in the movie but couldn’t shed much light on the movie’s story or tone. What the actress did confirm was that the film isn’t so much connected to any of the other “Mad Max” (the Mel Gibson ones) movies – for all intents and purposes, “Fury Road” sounds like it’s a reboot.

Here’s a transcription of that part :

“I think we’ve been told is it’s not a sequel or a prequel. It’s the world of Mad Max but it’s a re-imagination. I play a warrior and Mad Max is played by Tom Hardy; at least I hope it’s still Tom Hardy. That’s really all I think I can say”.

I spoke to Miller a couple of weeks back who confirmed – in addition to a mid-year start date in South Africa – that Tom Hardy is indeed still a lock to play Max.  Guessing he’d know?
