Australia’s Isla Fisher up for female lead in Johnny Depp blockbuster

Summer Bay alum Isla Fisher (“Definitely, Maybe”) is one of several young actresses testing for the female lead of Nora Charles in “The Thin Man”, director Rob Marshall’s take on the Dashiell Hammett novel.

Also reading lines into a camera next week, says Deadline, are Carey Mulligan, Eva Green, Amy Adams, Emma Stone, Rachel Weisz, Kristen Wiig, and Emily Blunt.

She’s not without some strong competition, but for Fisher to even be on the list is quite an admirable feat. Depp worked alongside Isla Fisher on Gore Verbinski’s animated treat “Rango”, so it’s likely that relationship led to her look-in.

Johnny Depp is set to play socialite cum detective Nick Charles in the WB project which tells of a detective couple, Nick and Nora Charles, who play crime-solvers in the 1930’s.
