Batman baddie joins Godzilla

Ken Watanabe (“The Last Samurai”, “Batman Begins”, “Inception”) has joined the cast of Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures’ “Godzilla”, according to THR.

The film, which begins shooting today in Vancouver under the direction of Gareth Edwards (“Monsters”), also stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Juliette Binoche, David Strathairn, and Bryan Cranston. Matthew Broderick continues to sit by the phone. Ferris, it ain’t ringin’.

Details on Watanabe’s character, let alone the plot of the film itself, haven’t been unveiled by the PR peeps – assumingly though, the film has Watanabe having a run-in with a giant, car-crunching monster, with a bigger story involving more people having, well, a run-in with a giant, car-crunching monster.

“Godzilla”, in all it’s 3D gimmickry, will stomp into screens big and bigger May 2014.
