Warner Bros are planning to rescue the “Dungeons & Dragons” brand from mediocrity.
The studio has obtained the rights to the game turned film series, with plans to squish the current succession of “Dungeons & Dragons” movies (all rather horrible!) in favour of a bigger-budgeted blockbuster-like version.
David Leslie Johnson (“Wrath of the Titans”) is already working on a script, says Deadline. Producing are Roy Lee and Courtney Solomon, who helmed the original 2000 “Dungeons & Dragons” movie.
With “The Hobbit” and “Game of Thrones” so popular, WB are said to be pouring a lot of time, energy and resources – and are chasing a good director – into making sure “Dungeons & Dragons” satisfies today’s audiences for mythical, fantasy fare.
In addition to 2000’s “Dungeons & Dragons”, starring Justin Whalin and Marlon Wayans, there have been two sequels.
