Could Matthew Perry BE more excited about his Odd Couple remake!?

Former insert the name of one of 15 TV shows here “Friends” star Matthew Perry has decided for his ‘next trick’, he’ll pull a remake of an old Matthau/Lemon classic out of his hat.

TV’s Chanandler Bong is resurrecting classic movie/series “The Odd Couple” over at CBS, slotting himself into the Oscar Madison role.

The show, retreads of which have come thick and fast over the years, will again fix on a couple of mismatched roommates, the messy Oscar Madison (Perry) and the neat freak Felix Unger.

Deadline says the search is currently on for Felix Unger. Matt Le Blanc and David Schwimmer sit by the phone.

“Ever since seeing the movie The Odd Couple when I was 10 years old, it has been a dream for me to play Oscar Madison,” Perry said. “To be given the opportunity to develop a modern version of it for CBS has put a permanent smile across my face. I met up with a wonderful writing partner in Danny Jacobson. We both have such a passion for the source material that we have instantly become obsessed with making this great. Plus, I think it’s time for me to be in front of a live audience again. I miss that. The search for Felix Ungar is on!”

Co-written by Perry and Danny Jacobsen, the “Odd Couple” will mark Perry’s return to ‘this show is recorded in front of a live studio audience’ territory. The actor’s last couple of shows, “Go On” and “Mr Sunshine”, were multi-camera, audience-free efforts.

There’s been worse ideas – like the time I decided to combine an old tin of fruit salad with thin chicken pieces and put it on a slow slimmer.
