Lee Daniels’ The Richard Pryor Biopic?

Lee Daniels (“The Butler”) is in talks to helm that long-gestating biopic on Richard Pryor, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The movie, which has been in development for umpteen years, was last put on reserve for Bill Condon (“Dreamgirls”).

The Weinstein Company still consider Marlon Wayans (whose screen test, some might be surprised to hear, blew producers away) and Eddie Murphy serious contenders for the role of Pryor. Michael B.Jordan, the 26 year-old wunderkid who astonished audiences with his bravura turn in last year’s “Fruitvale Station”, is also said to be in the mix; needless to say, his age might go against him though.

Personally, I liked to see Murphy – also a co-star, not to mention good friend of the late Pryor’s, suggesting he might have better insight into the man than another actor, who’d assumingly be basing his performance on archived materials – play the comic genius.
