Doug Liman remaking Sylvester Stallone classic

Doug Liman (“Edge of Tomorrow”, “The Bourne Identity”) will direct a redo of the 1981 film “Victory” for Warner Bros, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“Victory”, one of the earlier efforts for Sylvester Stallone, was set during World War II as allied POWs prepare for a soccer match against the German National Team to be played in Nazi-occupied Paris. But amid the preparations, the French Resistance and British officers are making plans for the team’s escape. Michael Caine and Pele also starred.

Gavin O’Connor (“Warrior”) is writing the remake.
