Andrew Garfield offered to stay on as Spidey?

He’s out now, but was there a chance that Andrew Garfield might’ve reprised Spider-Man from the forthcoming Marvel-led reboot?

According to The Daily Beast, Garfield did speak with the powers-that-be about reprising Peter Parker for further adventures. But with the new Spider-Man reportedly still in high school, and possibly younger than Garfield’s incarnation, it was ultimately decided to recast. While some outlets are suggesting that it was Garfield himself who opted not to play the role again (really!? Nah! He’s a huge fan of the character and would’ve loved teaming up with Captain America and Iron Man in a flick!), the aforesaid outlet suggests the studio had to make the call.

Pity, Garfield made a good web-slinger. Average movies backing him, but good web-slinger.
