Manganiello exits Scream Queens, is Suicide Squad the reason?

Joe Manganiello has exited Fox’s “Scream Queens” for what would seem to be a high-profile role in Warner’s “Suicide Squad” movie.

The “True Blood” alum has long been chasing a dream to star in a superhero movie (his brief role in the original “Spider-Man” hardly counts), coming close to snaring the Kal-El gig in “Man of Steel” and vying for several other costumed hero parts over the years. Seems he may have reached his goal.

While Manganiello was an early contender for the role of Deathstroke in Batman spin-off film “Suicide Squad”, his commitments to Ryan Murphy’s “Scream Queens” forced him to pull out of the race. But over the weekend it was announced that the actor had managed to escape his contract. Is it for “Suicide Squad”? Nobody’s talking, but it would seem so. One report says Manganiello was forced to pull out of the show because of interview and PR commitments for the upcoming “Magic Mike XXL”, but that seems unlikely- we all know actors can do phoners from film sets.

“Nashville” star Oliver Hudson will now replace Manganiello on the TV show.

If Manganiello is indeed part of “Suicide Squad”, he’ll join a formidable line-up that includes Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Jai Courtney, Joel Kinnaman and Jared Leto.
