Kate Hudson will play the wife of Mark Wahlberg’s character in oil rig disaster film “Deepwater Horizon”.
Kurt Russell, the man she considers her father, also stars with Gina Rodriguez, Dylan O’Brien and John Malkovich.
The film tells the story of the 2010 explosion of oil rig Deepwater Horizon which killed 11 men working on the platform and injured 17 others. The subsequent gusher wasn’t capped for three months.
Peter Berg is directing from Matthew Michael Carnahan’s script based on David Barstow, David Rohde and Stephanie Saul’s the New York Times article “Deepwater Horizon’s Final Hour”.
Lorenzo di Bonaventura, Mark Vahradian, Wahlberg, Stephen Levinson and David Womark are producing.
“Deepwater Horizon” will open on September 30, 2016.
