Casting: Bastards, Sully, Meyers, Code Black, Armitage, Forbes, McTeer, Marsan, Daniels

Stand-up comedian Kat Williams is set to join Ed Helms, Owen Wilson, J.K. Simmons, Terry Bradshaw and Ving Rhames in “Bastards”.

Larry Sher will make his directorial debut on the comedy which follows two brothers whose eccentric mother raised them to believe their father had died when they were young. When they discover this to be a lie, they set out to find their real father, learning more about their mother than they probably ever wanted to know.

Production is set to get underway in Atlanta and Miami in September.

 

 

Jerry Ferrara (“Entourage”) will join Tom Hanks, Laura Linney and Aaron Eckhart in Clint Eastwood’s “Sully” (via Variety).

Based on the book by Chesley “Sully” Sullenberger and Jeffrey Zaslow, the film centres on Sullenberger, the pilot who safely landed his plane full of 155 passengers in the Hudson River after both engines were knocked out by a flock of geese.

Ferrara has also signed his deal to return for seasons three and four of Starz drama “Power”.

 

 

Jonathan Rhys Meyers will headline Pakistan-set survival tale “Shambhala”.

The film follows the lone survivor of a plane crash in a country where he is stranded without language or culture in common.

Writer/director Summer Bodhi Nicks helms. Australian/Indian actress Pallavi Sharda and English born actor Akshay Kumar are also in the cast.

 

 

Shiri Appleby (“UnReal”) will guest star in one episode of CBS medical drama “Code Black”.

Appleby will play “Dr. Carla Niven, the ex-girlfriend of first-year resident Dr. Malaya Pineda (Melanie Chandra), who comes back into her life unexpectedly when she shows up to the hospital, this time, as a patient”.

“Dr. Niven is described as a hard charging, type-A ER doctor from another area hospital who trained at Code Black’s Angels Memorial, which is where her romance began with Dr. Pineda who was then a medical student. Now an ER resident at Angels, Dr. Pineda treats Dr. Niven, who is pregnant and shows up to the hospital for treatment for muscle pain that turns out to be a form of cancer” (via Variety).

“Code Black” premieres Sept. 30 on CBS.

 

 

Richard Armitage (“Hannibal” ) and Michelle Forbes are set to star in Epix’s upcoming spy series “Berlin Station”.

Armitage will play Daniel Meyer, the cerebral, newly-anointed CIA case officer who goes from being an analyst at Langley to an undercover agent in Berlin tasked with finding an informant.

Forbes will play Valerie Edwards, the no-nonsense administrator who serves as a Berlin Station Section Head.

Production will begin this fall with the show set to premiere in fall 2016.

 

 

Janet McTeer, Eddie Marsan and Ben Daniels have joined the cast of “The Kaiser’s Last Kiss”.

Lily James, Jai Courtney and Christopher Plummer star in the fictitious film about former German leader Kaiser Wilhelm II.

David Leveaux is directing from a screenplay by Simon Burke, based on the novel by Alan Judd.
