Anna Faris goes Overboard for Goldie Hawn remake

Just as Goldie Hawn prepares to make her excitable return to the big screen (with “Snatched”), Siren of silly Anna Faris agrees to headline a remake of one of the former’s comedy classics.

Faris will take Hawn’s role in a remake of the 1987 comedy “Overboard”. The Garry Marshall-directed film, which united Hawn with long-time beau Kurt Russell, saw the comedienne play a rich socialite who forgets her memory when she falls off her yacht. Russell plays the carpenter who rescues her, convinces her she’s his wife and mother of his tribe, and ultimately falls for her.

In the new film, the roles are reversed – it’s a spoiled playboy from Mexico (Eugenio Derbez) who falls overboard, gains amnesia, and falls for working-class mother Faris’s ruse.

The remake, which begins production this May in Vanouver, will be co-directed and written by Rob Greenberg (“How I Met Your Mother”) and Bob Fisher (“We’re the Millers”). Ben Odell and Derbez will produce through their 3Pas Studios.
