Billy Dee Williams coming aboard Star Wars: Episode IX

A familiar face is returning to the Star Wars galaxy, with Billy Dee Williams set to reprise his role as Lando Calrissian in “Star Wars: Episode IX”.

Williams played Lando in the original “Star Wars”, appearing in 1980’s “The Empire Strikes Back” and 1983’s “Return of the Jedi” – which will mean this is his first return to the “Star Wars” universe in over 30 years.

The production for “Episode IX” is said to begin later in the American summer. A younger Lando was recently played by the popular Donald Glover in “Solo: A Star Wars Story”.

“Episode IX” is being directed by J.J. Abrams and also stars Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac and Adam Driver, as well as new addition Keri Russell. The film opens December 20, 2019.
