Casting: Mary Poppins Returns, The Punisher, IO

Emily Mortimer has become the latest addition to the cast of Disney’s “Mary Poppins Returns”.

According to Variety, Mortimer will play Jane Banks, who along with her brother Michael (who will be played by Ben Whishaw in the pic), was one of the children the magical titular nanny looked after in the original 1964 film, and is now all-grown-up in this installment.

Set 25 years after the original, the film will also star Emily Blunt, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Meryl Streep.

Directed by Rob Marshall, the film is set to bow on December 25, 2018.

Producers are Marshall, John DeLuca and Marc Platt. The screenplay is written by David Magee based on The Mary Poppins Stories by P.L. Travers, with Marc Shaiman composing an all-new score and Shaiman and Scott Wittman writing original songs.

Ben Barnes, Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Amber Rose Revah have been cast in Marvel’s Netflix series “The Punisher”.

Barnes will play Billy Russo, Frank Castle’s best friend from his days in the Special Forces who runs a successful private military corporation called Anvil. Moss-Bachrach will play Micro, a former NSA analyst whose secrets may be of great value to Frank Castle and everyone around them. Revah will play Dinah Madani, a highly-trained sophisticated Homeland Security agent who is vexed by the Punisher.

Starring Jon Bernthal, “The Punisher” will premiere on Netflix in 2017.

Margaret Qualley, Anthony Mackie, and Danny Huston have signed on to star in sci-fi drama “IO.”

Jonathan Helpert is directing from an original script by Clay Jeter, Charles Spano, and Will Basanta.

Jason Michael Berman and Laura Rister will produce “IO” for Mandalay Pictures and Untitled Entertainment, respectively. The film will premiere globally on Netflix in 2017.

Qualley will play Sam Walden, a teenager surviving as one of the last people on an abandoned post-cataclysmic Earth, who is racing to find a cure for her poisoned home world before the last shuttle off the planet to the distant human space colony leaves her stranded. Mackie will play Micah, a complicated and mysterious refugee on his way to the imminent shuttle launch who makes Sam question whether she can really alter Earth’s fate.
