House of Cards season 6 going ahead sans Spacey

So we all know that Kevin Spacey has been a bad man, and got himself cut out of “All the Money in the World” at the 11th hour. The lingering question of what will happen to “House of Cards” has now been answered at UBS’s Global Media and Communications Conference in New York, with Chief Content Officer of Netflix Ted Sarandos addressing the issue:

“I can actually give you some news in the room today, because we have been in arrangement to produce a sixth season of House of Cards. It’ll be an eight episode season that’ll start production early ’18, and it will not involve Kevin Spacey.”

Further, Sarandos confirmed that Robin Wright will be the lead for the series, and fans will get some closure.

The filming of the series shut down in November, and given that most of the script was written prior to the allegations against Spacey coming out, it’ll be interesting to see what they do with it from here.
