Jim Carrey to star in action-comedy heist flick Loomis Fargo

Jim Carrey, seemingly riding a huge comeback wave at the moment (what with the role in “Kick-Ass 2”, the looming “Dumb & Dumber To” and the recently wrapped “Burt Wonderstone”), has signed to star in director Jared Hess’s (“Napoleon Dynamite”) action-comedy “Loomis Fargo”.

The talent-clad film, produced by Lorne Michaels (“SNL”), Megan Ellison (“True Grit”), and John Goldwin (“MacGruber”) and written by Chris Bowman and Hubbel Palmer (the “Napoleon Dynamite” animated series) as well as “Eastbound & Down” duo Danny McBride and Jody Hill, is based on the true story of an “ex-military leader of a band of Southern armored car guards who pull off a huge heist.”

The project, budgeted at $30 million (explaining the need for a big-name like Carrey to be attached), is in development at Relativity Media.
